About this Degree

Admission Process & Requirements

All of our majors require the following steps to Admission:

Step 1: Apply to UGA
Step 2: Apply to HHSOM
Step 3: Schedule and Complete Audition

Once all that is complete, HHSOM generates it’s acceptance list but waits to see if you are admitted to UGA. Once you are accepted to UGA, if you are also on our list we will send your HHSOM acceptance at that time.

Degree Details

The Bachelor of Arts in Music offers students a versatile liberal arts education within the context of rigorous musical training. The flexible structure of this degree plan fosters intellectual engagement with many disciplines. As such, it is particularly well suited for musically talented students who have additional academic interests and/or desire a flexible career trajectory, making this degree a perfect candidate for those interested in obtaining a double major from our university.

The AB Music curriculum provides a comprehensive academic education with rigorous training in theory, applied instruction, history, and literature, which develops creative and intellectual habits essential for success in careers of all kinds. It encourages the innovative spirit and flexibility needed in a quickly evolving global economy. 

While studying a wide range of academic disciplines, AB Music students receive exceptional professional training in musicianship and applied music and are able to participate fully in our acclaimed ensembles.

Applicants are required to audition for admission into this program.

Employers:

Students holding a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Music are prepared to enter a variety of fields. The degree provides a foundation for such professional pursuits as studio teaching, music business, arts administration, performance, and church music. Students are also prepared for graduate study in music or other disciplines that accept a general liberal arts degree for entry. Students holding this degree have successfully pursued graduate study in the fields of law, medicine, business, computer science, and others.
