American Choral Directors Association

The University of Georgia American Choral Directors Association (UGACDA) is a student-led chapter of the American Choral Directors Association that supports the activities and concerts of the University of Georgia Choirs, promotes excellence in the field of choral music, and advances the professional aspirations of its individual members.

National Association for Music Education

National Association for Music Education (NAfME), among the world’s largest arts education organizations, is the only association that addresses all aspects of music education. NAfME advocates at the local, state, and national levels; provides resources for teachers, parents, and administrators; hosts professional development events; and offers a variety of opportunities for students and teachers.

Kappa Kappa Psi

Membership in the Fraternity is limited to band members interested in serving the band program while learning with and growing close to those who work for that same cause. The Kappa Mu Chapter at UGA is a brotherhood dedicated to the UGA Bands through service, support, leadership and appreciation for music, operating in a respectable and enjoyable manner, with integrity and pride.

Musicology/Ethnomusicology Student Association

The University of Georgia Musicology/Ethnomusicology Student Association aims to support and provide both social and academic opportunities for students professing an interest in musical scholarship. They host speakers and sponsor an annual research symposium at the UGA School of Music as well as plan social gatherings and networking opportunities.

Music Teacher National Association

The mission of MTNA is to conduct programs and activities to build a vital musical culture and an enlightened musical public for the benefit and the general welfare of all persons, and to improve the quality of teaching, research, and scholarship in music.

Music Therapy Student Association

The Music Therapy Student Association seeks to better educate students, parents, caretakers, other health care professionals, and the general public about the qualitative and quantitative benefits of music therapy. They frequently organize outreach to the Athens community, seeking to improve the lives of all through music.

Phi Mu Alpha

Founded in 1898 at the New England Conservatory by Ossian Everett Mills, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is the largest music fraternity for men in the nation. Focused on the betterment of the man and the musician, the fraternity’s Object is for “the development of the best and truest fraternal spirit; the mutual welfare and brotherhood of musical students; the advancement of music in America and a loyalty to the Alma Mater.”

UGA’s Epsilon Lambda Chapter was chartered in 1949 by a group of students originally known as the Men's Music Club of the University of Georgia.  At that time, twelve students and six faculty members comprised the newly formed Epsilon Lambda Chapter, including Department of Music Director, Hugh Hodgson.

Today, the chapter includes over fifty active brothers and hundreds of extraordinary alumni who have gone on to lead successful careers in the music field and others.  Our chapter takes part in numerous projects, performances, and social opportunities thought the year in our mission to fulfill the fraternity's noble Object. Sigma Alpha Iota

The Iota Zeta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota received its charter at the University of Georgia on January 30, 1940. The chapter is a part of the Tau A province. The first meeting was held on January 30th in the studio of the first faculty advisor, Miss Lucile Kimbel. Fifteen members attended as well as Mrs. Mildred Sale, the National Executive Secretary, and Miss Lindloff, the Province President.

The chapter's first goals were “to sponsor an annual student concert, to help promote the weekly Music Appreciation programs and to give receptions for visitors during the Music Festival each year.” Members agreed that the purpose of the fraternity as a whole was to raise the standards of productive musical works and to uphold the highest ideals of music education. Total membership for the 1939-1940 school year grew to twenty-four.

Student Composers' Association

The UGA Student Composers' Association has as its principle goals the enhancement of its members' education in new music and the support of new music composition and performance on the University of Georgia campus. The Association holds a weekly seminar in Dancz Hall, with topics ranging from reviews of the works of contemporary composers to improvisation sessions to sponsoring guest lectures by individuals actively involved in the production and performance of new music. All interested parties are invited to attend and participate.

TAU BETA SIGMA

Tau Beta Sigma, Honorary Band Sorority, was founded at Oklahoma State University on March 26, 1946, by Wava Banes Turner Henry. Dedicated to serving collegiate bands, the organization promotes equality, diversity, and an appreciation of music. 
 
The Kappa Gamma Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma, chartered on April 23, 2023, fosters leadership, educational achievement, music appreciation and community development. Our chapter is committed to empowering women across various fields in music - including performance, education, composition, and therapy. We aim to cultivate a meaningful and worthwhile experience for all members of the UGA Band Program.

UGA Chamber Music Society

The UGA Chamber Music Society is a student run organization designed to help undergraduate students of all majors continue their passion for music by forming music ensembles and performing throughout the community. This is accomplished by providing students a platform to gain invaluable performance experience and also share live music to the Athens community.

Athens Percussion Outreach Program

The Athens Percussion Outreach Program consists of UGA Percussion Students who aid percussionists in public schools in and around Athens. The program consists of volunteering, presenting masterclasses, and teaching private lessons to percussion students. Our goal is to provide resources to as many young percussionists as possible to aid in their success and enjoyment of music.
