Saxophone Chamber Music

Each semester, several small groups of various sizes make up the University of Georgia Saxophone Chamber Music Program, including quartets and the UGA Saxophone Ensemble.  The Saxophone Ensemble is the largest of these groups, with the studio performing some of the best original and transcribed literature on the entire saxophone family: sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass.

Chamber music allows saxophone students at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music to grow artistically and technically on their instruments, as they learn to rehearse on their own and rely on their own ears and minds to sculpt the music.  Students will also develop critical life skills in the areas of leadership, independent thinking and communication.  The saxophone chamber music program instills a greater sense of community within the studio and is often where individual identities begin to emerge.
