UGA Wind Ensemble presents its first concert of 2021-22

Join us on Thursday, September 23 for UGA Wind Ensemble’s first concert of the year in Hodgson Concert Hall!

Led by Dr. Jaclyn Hartenberger, Interim Director of Bands, this program features the world premiere of Concerto for Wind Ensemble by Kevin Day ’21 MM, a new work co-commissioned by UGA Wind Ensemble. Assistant Professor of Tuba and Euphonium Dr. Matthew Shipes performs as guest soloist on Day’s Concerto for Euphonium and Wind Ensemble. Leonard Bernstein’s exciting Overture to Candide opens the concert, followed by Claude Debussy’s Clair de lune, orchestrated by graduate student Andrew Blair ’20 MM.

The premier wind band at UGA, the Wind Ensemble has earned an international reputation for its artistry and precision. Membership, determined each semester by blind audition, includes many of the most accomplished graduate and undergraduate UGA music students.

The performance is scheduled for Thursday, September 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Hodgson Concert Hall. Tickets are $12 for adults, $3 for students. If you are unable to attend, live streaming is available.
