Hugh Hodgson Faculty Series’ 2016-2017 finale features Reid Messich

The Hugh Hodgson Faculty Series finishes its 2016-2017 season featuring the Hugh Hodgson School of Music’s assistant professor of oboe, Reid Messich, in Ramsey Concert Hall on Tuesday, April 18, at 8 p.m.

Messich will perform works from Jean Françaix, Carl Nielsen, Robert Schumann and Georg Philipp Telemann with help from assistant professor of bassoon Amy Pollard and pianist Greg Hankins (M.M. Performance ’12).

Messich serves as co-principal oboe of the IRIS Orchestra and has been a member since 2005. As a performer and educator, Messich is recognized nationally and internationally, and has been a featured guest artist and soloist in the United States, Europe, and Asia. As an orchestral musician, his performances can be heard on NPR’s Performance Today.

Pollard is currently second bassoonist with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and has performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the North Carolina Symphony, the Virginia Symphony, Symphony Orchestra Augusta, the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.

Hankins is a collaborative pianist and has been recital partners with members of the Canadian Brass, Metropolitan Opera, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera Orchestra, Sao Paulo Symphony, Saint Louis Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Sydney Symphony, and various solo artists and faculty of universities and conservatories around the world.

Tickets to the concert are $12 each or $6 with a UGA student ID and can be purchased at pac.uga.edu or the PAC box office. Those unable to attend can watch the concert live on the Hodgson School’s website: music.uga.edu/streaming.
