
Last fall, School of Music students competed for the chance to perform as soloists alongisde the UGA Symphony Orchestra. The winning students, chosen by a panel of School of Music faculty, will perform concertos with the orchestra, directed by Mark Cedel, in Hodgson Concert Hall on Thursday, Feb. 4, at 8 p.m.
Performing as soloists are:
Heejin Park, piano, on Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3, Op. 26;
Pedro Alliprandini, clarinet, on Carl Maria von Weber's Concertino for Clarinet and Orchestra, Op. 26;
Esther Tonea, soprano, on two arias from Mozart's "Mitridate, re di Ponto;"
Shawna Pennock, saxophone, on the first movement of Takashi Yoshimatsu's "Cyber Bird;"
Moises Bonella Cunha, violin, on the first movement of Bartók's Violin Concerto No. 2;
and Peng-Chian Chen, piano, on the second and third movements of Ravel's Concerto pour Piano et Orchestre.
Tickets are $10 or $5 with a UGA student ID and are available at pac.uga.edu, 706-542-4400 or by visiting the PAC box office. This performance will be streamed live on the School of Music's streaming page.
