The Salvation Army presents "A Brass Spectacular," a free concert combining the talents of three outstanding groups and featuring Philip Smith, former New York Philharmonic trumpet principal, on Friday, January 16 in Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall.

The Salvation Army USA Southern Territorial Band will join the UGA British Brass Band and the Bulldog Brass Quintet along with Smith, who retired last year after 36 years with the New York Philharmonic and is now on the faculty of the Hugh Hodgson School of Music.

“We’re excited about this event because it’s all about coming together,” said Athens Corps officer Lt. Carlos Cantu. “When musicians with this level of expertise combine, beautiful sounds fill the air... People’s lives are changed and that creates a joyful noise in people’s hearts.”

The event is free, unticketed, and open to the public.
