Piano performance students from the Hugh Hodgson School of Music continue to set themselves apart, making news recently with several notable achievements.

Doctoral piano performance major Hyorim Lee was recently chosen as one of seven finalists in the Artist Level division of the 2015 United States Virtuoso International Piano Competition.  Thirty-two pianists from the U.S., Italy, Canada, Japan, China and South Korea entered the Artist Level division. Lee, a student of Dr. Richard Zimdars, Despy Karlas Professor Emeritus of Piano at the School of Music, will play works of Beethoven and Liszt in the final round of the competition on Oct. 3 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Junior piano performance major David Dang, also a student of Zimdars, was chosen last semester by the HHSOM piano faculty to receive a 2015 Atlanta Steinway Society Scholarship of $1,000. On Sept. 20, Dang performed works of Beethoven, Chopin, and Scriabin for the Society's annual scholarship concert in Atlanta at Peachtree Presbyterian Church.
