Hodgson Wind Symphony’s final 2015 concert celebrates American composers

The Hodgson Wind Symphony will bring the works of several notable American composers to Hodgson Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m.

Performing compositions from Aaron Copland, Charles Ives, Michael Daugherty and Frank Ticheli, the Hodgson Wind Symphony will perform their final concert of 2015 with the help of several Hugh Hodgson School of Music conductors and musicians.

Brett Bawcum, assistant director of bands and associate director of athletic bands, and Jack Eaddy, conducting graduate student, will serve as guest conductors for the concert. 

Timothy K. Adams Jr., professor of percussion and the Mildred Goodrum Heyward Professor in Music, will perform as the timpani soloist for Daugherty’s “Raise the Roof.”

“I'm excited to show off our students and our faculty with this concert,” said Dr. Jaclyn Hartenberger, director of the Hodgson Wind Symphony. “This will be quite the celebration of music featuring works from iconic American composers.”

Admission to the concert is free and the public is invited to attend.
