Dr. ToniMarie Marchioni will come to the Hugh Hodgson School of Music on Friday, Oct. 23, as yet another decorated guest artist ready to entertain and educate.

Marchioni, the Juilliard-educated assistant professor of oboe at the University of Kentucky, will perform a free recital in Ramsey Concert Hall at 3:35 p.m.

“ToniMarie and I have known each other over the past 15 years and play in the IRIS Orchestra together,” said Dr. Reid Messich, assistant professor of oboe at the School of Music. “It's always a joy to hear her perform.”

Joining Marchioni will be a pianist familiar with the halls of the School of Music: Dr. Jacob Coleman, who earned his bachelor’s degree in piano performance at UGA.

The duo will be performing Handel’s Sonata in B-flat Major, Hindemith’s Sonata for Oboe and Piano and Howells’ Sonata for Oboe and Piano.

Both performers will also teach a master class for School of Music students.

The Hugh Hodgson School of Music sponsors more than 350 performances each year. To view the performance calendar, subscribe to the weekly email concert listing or learn more about the School of Music, go to music.uga.edu.
