Guest artist Dr. Wendy Mullen will take the stage on Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. in Ramsey Concert Hall at the Performing Arts Center.

Mullen, a soprano, and pianist Lev Ryabinin come to Athens as part of a recital sharing program between Georgia College and the University of Georgia.

Mullen’s program includes works from Barber, Debussy, Strauss and others.

“Featuring the Hermit Songs of Samuel Barber and a selection of songs by Sergei Rachmaninov, this program lets concert-goers experience the romanticism of the early American twentieth century and compare it to the music that helped to inspire it from the late 19th century,” said Stephanie Tingler, associate professor of voice at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music.

The vocal coordinator of the music department at Georgia College, Mullen received her DMA in Performance from Arizona State University and her Master and Bachelor of Music degrees from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Mullen taught voice at Arizona State University, Pellissippi State Community College, Tennessee Technological University and The University of Tennessee.

Admission to the concert is free and the public is invited to attend.
