UGA tuba-euphonium students to compete internationally

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Congratulations to Christopher Leslie, Alex Avila, and the UGA Graduate Tuba Euphonium Quartet, who recently secured semi-finalist positions at the 2014 International Tuba Euphonium Conference competitions!

The quartet, comprised of Christopher Leslie, Patrick Geren, David McLemore, and Chris Gurtcheff, will travel to Indiana University this May to compete in the conference's Quartet Competition.

In addition to performing with the quartet, Leslie is also a semi-finalist in the Euphonium Artist Competition and Mock Euphonium Band Audition. Fellow euphonium player Alex Avila will also be competing in the mock audition.

UGA tuba alumni Charlie Goodman and Phillip Bloomer have also been selected to compete in several of the events.

All are students of Hugh Hodgson School of Music tuba-euphonium professor David Zerkel.
