Recent Hugh Hodgson School of Music graduate students Joshua and Kristen Holritz will both perform at an upcoming concert hosted by the Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta. The event, dubbed the annual "Spring Fling, will be held at St. John United Methodist Church in Atlanta and also features Robert Henry, piano, and Mary Ann Hill, soprano.

From the Pro-Mozart Society press release:

Athens-based Dr. Josh Holritz is a violin soloist and orchestral and chamber musician. Since his solo debut as a fifteen-year-old with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, he has been engaging audiences around the world, including Canada, England, Austria, South Africa, Japan, and in more than 20 states around the continental United States. Josh is an advocate for newly composed music and improvisation. He has recently recorded the 24 Preludes for Violin and Piano, Op. 46 by Lera Auerbach. His free-improvisation work can be heard on Spotify under the album title "Blow-Fi."

In the fall of 2013 Athens-based Kristen Holritz was selected from among 48 applicants to hold the position of Principal Flute with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera. CSO’s Music Director, Kayoko Dan, describes her as a wonderful musician with flawless technique and beautiful tone and vibrato. A competition winner since 2005, she has soloed with the University of North Carolina Symphony Orchestra as well as the University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra. She performs extensively as a chamber musician with Schaafritz, a duo with her violinist husband, Josh Holritz. Because Josh is a native of Kagoshima, Japan, Schaafritz went on summer tours to Japan in 2012 and 2013 with student musicians from The Juilliard School, to take music and hope to places hit hardest by the tsunami of March, 2011.

The event, which takes place on Sunday, May 11 at 2:00 pm, is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required, though the Society will accept donations at the door.
