Congratulations to Hugh Hodgson School of Music students John Hennecken, Daniel Elder, and Jeremy Fermin!

On September 26, 2014, Symphony Orchestra Augusta performed Everything Beautiful In Its Time, a work by DMA composition student John Hennecken. The piece was also programmed this past summer in Japan, and both pieces were conducted by SOA music director Shizuo Z. Kuwahara.

Another composition student, alumnus Daniel Elder (BM Composition 2010) recently won second place in the American Prize's choral division with his composition Three Themes of Life and Love. Judges said that Elder's works "represent some of the finest examples of the current generation of American choral composers."

Jeremy Fermin (BM Education 2011) was recently named Teacher of the Year at Hinesville, GA's Bradwell Institute, where he serves as Director of Bands. Fermin is a trumpet player and former member of the UGA Redcoat Marching Band.
