The University of Georgia Wind Ensemble is proud to announce the release of its new recording, Street Song, on the Naxos label. Image removed.

The group, under the baton of Dr. John Lynch, recorded the CD last year over the span of several days.  It is the second album produced by the Wind Ensemble since Lynch's arrival in 2007.

Included on the disc is Michael Tilson Thomas's eponymous composition - a perennial standard in brass repertoire - as well as Stravinsky's Concerto for Piano & Wind Instruments, featuring Anatoly Sheludyakov; Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man; Vaughan Williams's Toccato Marziale; Mobberly's Words of Love; and Lorenz's El Muro.  The album is rounded off with Tower Ascending, a composition commissioned specifically by Lynch for the Wind Ensemble and featuring UGA Professor of Clarinet D. Ray McClellan.

Wind Band Today calls the album "a testament to the work that John Lynch has been doing... a fine contribution to the Naxos library and the wind band catalog."

The album can be purchased from Naxos, iTunes, or Amazon.
