In what Professor David Zerkel refers to as an "unprecedented representation of prize winners from one studio," four University of Georgia Tuba-Euphonium students have won top prizes at the Leonard Falcone Euphonium and Tuba Festival.

Hodgson School students David McLemore, Simon Wildman, Gary Garvin, and Alex Avila each placed in their respective divisions Monday evening.  McLemore and Wildman respectively took the top two prizes in the Artist Tuba category, while Garvin and Avila placed second and third in the Artist Euphonium category.

The wins represent a strong tradition among the tuba-euphonium studio at UGA.   Earlier this summer, Wildman won Artist Tuba Solo Competition at the International Tuba-Euphonium Conference in Linz, Austria.

The Falcone Festival, held each year at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan, consistently draws tuba and euphonium players from around the globe to compete in its prestigious international competition.  Prizes range from $500 to $2500.
