Audition Days

Though each applicant will receive a personalized itinerary from our Undergraduate Admissions Officer once an audition date and time has been confirmed, the following gives prospective students a preview of what to expect on the day of their audition.

Arrival

Prospective students and their families will be greeted by admissions staff in the third floor lobby of the Hugh Hodgson School of Music building. To access this reception area, please use our front door entrance. Though our building has many points of entry, visitors should use the promenade entrance located across from the Georgia Museum of Art and adjacent to the Performing Arts Center.

Upon arrival, applicants will sign in and be treated to light refreshments. Admission staff will be on hand to usher prospective student into practice rooms, so that they may properly prepare for their audition with area faculty.

General Convocation and Q & A with Admissions Staff

For friends and family expected to wait, the HHSOM offers an info session detailing financial aid opportunities, an overview of a music student's first semester, and other practical concerns that parents may have. This is an excellent opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance regarding a successful matriculation. In additional the addressing the more practical aspects of music school admission, friends and family of auditioning students will be treated to a brief musical exhibition. This gives visitors an opportunity to experience the caliber of musical excellence that is exhibited at our institution.

Dismissal

After a prospective student's audition has concluded, guests are welcome to explore our facilities (HHSOM staff would be happy to guide a tour), ask additional questions, or enjoy an evening performance at the Performing Arts Center (when applicable).
