The jazz area at the UGA Hugh Hodgson School of Music is busy this spring. Whether downtown or on East Campus, it won’t be hard to find UGA jazz for the next few months.

Thursday, March 24—The Dave D'Angelo Jazz Quartet plays Hendershots at 8 p.m. Led by Dave D’Angelo, the School of Music’s assistant professor of jazz studies, the quartet features Gary Motley, Justin Chesarik and Chris Enghauser. Admission is $7 or $5 for UGA students.

Tuesday, April 5th— Jazz Ensembles I & II from the School of Music will perform in Ramsey Concert Hall at 6 p.m. This showcase of the School’s talented jazz musicians is free to attend.

Saturday, April 9th—The UGA Jazz Ensemble I opens for the Marine Corps All Star Jazz Band at Athens Academy at 5 p.m., a performance that is free and open to the public.

Tuesday, April 19th—Grammy-nominated saxophonist Dave Liebman and his quintet will hold a clinic in Edge Recital Hall at 2 p.m. and a concert at Hendershots at 8 p.m. Dave is a former member of Miles Davis’ and Elvin Jones’ Bands. The clinic is free admission, and the concert's cover charge has yet to be determined.

All events are eligible for recital credit for attending School of Music students.
